Director of Business and Operations
POSITION OVERVIEW: Camp Ramah in Northern California is seeking a Director of Business and Operations, responsible for overseeing the administrative, financial, and operational aspects of an innovative and mission-centered residential summer camp. This role combines strategic planning with day-to-day operational management to ensure the camp's successful function and sustainable growth
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
Develop and manage annual operating budget
Oversee accounts payable/receivable, and payroll
Register Campers, manage camp tuition collection and payment plans
Oversee Financial Assistance process and the work of the Scholarship Committee
Process staff payroll in compliance with California wage and hour laws
Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
Operations Management
Manage vendor relationships and contracts
Coordinate camp opening and closing procedures
Ensure compliance with California Department of Public Health and Safety requirements and American Camp Association accreditation standards
Maintain compliance with Title 17 of California Code of Regulations for Organized Camps
Maintain insurance requirements and conduct risk management procedures
Oversee food service operations and dietary accommodations
Manage transportation logistics for camper arrivals and departures and trips
Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA workplace safety requirements
Administrative Leadership
Supervise administrative staff and seasonal support personnel including office, housekeeping, commissary, operations, and security
Maintain camp database and registration systems
Manage parent communications regarding transportation and financial matters
Coordinate with medical staff on Health Center operations
Strategic Planning
Collaborate with Executive Director on long-term planning and growth initiatives
Identify and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency
Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and security plans
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field
5+ years of management experience
Strong financial acumen and budgeting experience
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Valid driver's license
Preferred
Previous camping or youth development experience
MBA or relevant advanced degree
Experience with facilities management
Knowledge of ACA (American Camp Association) standards
Background in non-profit management
Familiarity with payroll systems and financial/database management software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with regulatory compliance and risk management
Knowledge of California employment laws and regulations
Experience with California Title 17 regulations
Bilingual English/Spanish capability

Working Conditions
Full-time, year-round position based in Northern California
Required to live on-site during summer season (approximately 7-8 weeks)
Extended hours during summer season, including evenings and weekends
Some off-season travel required for conferences and facility management
Physical requirements include ability to move around camp property and inspect facilities
Work performed in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to varying weather conditions
