Director of Camp Wellness & Inclusion

Camp Ramah in Wisconsin’s Director of Camp Wellness and Inclusion is a senior level, year-round position overseeing the strategic design and implementation of our community wellness program including our camper care professionals, camper population, and staff (including supported employment and vocational programs). This professional will oversee our disability inclusion programs, mental health care for campers and staff, camper intake processes, a team of camper care professionals, and related areas. This individual will partner closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Director in the daily summer leadership of camp.

This role is suited for someone interested in building on existing high-level professional experience in the areas of mental health and disabilities as well as community building. The right candidate will demonstrate a commitment to building the type of year-round and lifelong interpersonal relationships and holistic Jewish community that are fundamental to Camp Ramah in Wisconsin’s work.

 This position is designed to be full-time but also can offer a flexible work arrangement to accommodate the candidate's availability and the camp's needs. During the off-season, the role can be part-time, with a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week or more. From April 15 to August 15, the position transitions to a full-time schedule to support our peak summer programming. This structure makes the role ideal for individuals seeking part-time work with the opportunity for full-time engagement during the camp season.

 What You’ll Do:

  • Oversight of Camper Care including outreach to new and existing families, review of forms, hiring and supervision of Camper Care professionals, development of staff training curriculum and materials.

  • Oversight of disability inclusion programs including publicity and recruitment, intake and registration, program development, staff hiring and oversight.

  • Oversee MESSH (mental, emotional, social and spiritual health) and other related wellness efforts for individual campers and the entire camp population.

  • Play a role in and assume leadership roles in some areas of camper recruitment and retention, staff recruitment and hiring, planning of summer program.

  • Collaborate with a movement-wide cohort of senior Ramah camper care professionals

 What You’ll Need:

  • Academic degree in special education, social work, psychology, or related field (Masters preferred)

  • 3+ years of experience in mental health, disability inclusion, Jewish education, and/or summer camp leadership

  • Ability to build trusting and lasting relationships with campers, camper parents, staff, professional leadership, and other partners

  • Experience in a supervisory or management role, with a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team

  • Years-long connection to an overnight Jewish camp as a camper and/or staff member

  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and with a team

  • Must be able to work in a demanding environment and able to quickly adjust to changing conditions

Job requirements:

  • Regular year-round travel as well as work on nights and weekends

  • Summer residency of approximately 11 weeks at Ramah’s Shabbat observant campus in Conover, WI (flexible arrangement depending on candidate background may be available, option of ~7 week-or more residency)

  • Regularly scheduled time in off-season office in downtown Chicago and Day Camp in Wheeling

  • Ability to build trusting and lasting relationships with campers, camper parents, staff, professional leaders and other partners

  • Living a lifestyle consistent with that of an educational leader of the Conservative Movement

 Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $70,000 - $110,000, commensurate with hours and experience
