synagogues that is committed to bringing together the Jewish community
through projects and functions.
Project
She
says KOLI , made of of 12 Orthodox, Conservative and Reform
synagogues, is "a neat organization, because it breaks barriers.
It recognizes the importance of being a total Jewish community that is
working together on common ideals and goals." She is now involved
with the organization's third Hanukkah toy drive to help make the
holidays special for underprivileged Long Island children.
Home
and Family
Married
to Robert for 10 years; three children; lives in Plainview.
Background
Age
37; born and raised in Long Beach. Attended the Hebrew Academy of Long
Beach and the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns in Rockaway. Worked as
a counselor at Camp Ramah in
Palmer, Mass., run by the Jewish Theological Seminary. Received a
bachelor's degree in accounting and information systems from Queens
College. Held various accounting positions before leaving to have
children; taught Hebrew school at Oceanside Jewish Center for five
years; was asked to coordinate the KOLI projects last fall because
"of my strong commitment to Jewish life" and exposure to the
different branches of Judaism.
Philosophy
"It's
not just a relationship with God, but how we interact with other
people in our community. It's been exciting to watch people work
together, overcome differences and recognize the faith we all believe
in."
