Magen David Adom Ambulance Dedicated by Ramah Nyack

Approximately 250 campers, parents and staff members from Ramah Day Camp in Nyack gathered on Sunday, November 30, 2003 to celebrate the dedication of an ambulance to Magen David Adom, Israel's emergency services. The Ramah Nyack community raised the $60,000 to purchase the ambulance by holding a variety of fundraisers over the past two camp seasons.

Amy Skopp Cooper, Camp Director, stated, "We are so proud of our Ramah Nyack campers and staff, who have demonstrated their dedication to the concept of tzedakah in this show of support for our brothers and sisters in Israel. It is very exciting for all of us to see what a meaningful contribution we can make as a result of so many individuals doing their part to raise money for Magen David Adom."

Held at Congregation Sons of Israel in Briarcliff Manor, NY, the dedication ceremony was attended by a representative of Magen David Adom, who presented the ARMDI Maimonides award to Ramah Nyack in appreciation for the gifting of an ambulance…to save lives in Israel." At the conclusion of the ceremony, the children explored the inside of the ambulance, which was sent to Israel in December, and whose doors are inscribed with the words, "Presented to the People of Israel in love and solidarity by the campers and staff of Camp Ramah Nyack, Nyack, NY, USA, with support from the entire Ramah camping movement." To conclude the ceremony, those gathered sang Hatikvah, Israel's national anthem, and then celebrated with almost two hours of singing and dancing inside the synagogue.
