Being accepted to (ti-ke-a)
means that I get to have some continuity - I've worked directly and
intensely with teens for 10 years and this fellowship means I get to
stay engaged in that piece of work", said Ramah Day Camp Director
Dan Alter, who was recently selected for the prestigious (ti-ke-a)
fellowship sponsored by the Bureau of Jewish Education in San
Francisco and the Center for Jewish Living and Learning in the East
Bay.
The Bay
Area (ti-ke-a) fellowship recently
chose its first cohort of fellows, who will be involved in an
intensive 16 month course
of study designed specifically for educators
of Jewish teens. This professional development initiative is
the first of its kind in the country; looking at new ways to meet the
changing needs of Jewish teens.
Dan was among 15
educators of Jewish teens selected from throughout the Bay
Area in a highly competitive process. As part of the fellowship,
Ramah Day Camp will receive a project grant up to $10,000 that will
benefit our teen program. Dan will be involved in
retreats, seminars, an Israel experience trip, and will receive a
$5,000 stipend for participating in the Fellowship.
(ti-ke-a) is funded with the generous support of the Richard &
Rhoda Goldman Fund.
